Kinokuniya Bookstore

Kinokuniya bookstore is a treasure trove of Asian novels, magazines and the kind of stationery and supplies you’d find in bookstores in Japan and Korea. We spent a lot of time just browsing through the Japanese men’s magazines (no no, not that kind) – the style magazines – which are really impressive in the density of content and details and very little advertising. And that little advertising and shipping to the U.S. results in the magazines being very expensive – ranging from $20 to $30. Luckily Kinokuniya has a sales bin of one-year-old magazines, including some of the Japanese style magazines we like but couldn’t otherwise afford – in several cardboard boxes near the entrance for under $2.
