One of my personal highlights of this past New York wedding trip was going to the John Lennon art exhibit in SoHo featuring his personal drawings on its opening day. This was a free exhibit – they simply asked you donate what you could for the New York Food Bank. As Lennon and The Beatles fans, it was quite the experience seeing his impressive illustrations, including sweet artwork he did for Sean and those that show his love for New York City. But my favorites were those he drew as wedding gifts for Yoko. This was a man who unabashedly illustrated his substantial love for his wife, and as a new wife I can admire that. We all know John Lennon’s talent as a musician, but his skills as an illustrator deserves recognition and praise.
We were not allowed to photograph the illustrations but I was able to sneak this little bit in via zoom lens from outside.
This was our second time attending a John Lennon art show in SoHo; the first was the John Lennon: The New York City Years exhibit. We’re hoping for a third.
