One of our favorite restaurants in New York is Caracas Arepa Bar in the East Village (we haven’t been to their other locations). We love that these Venezuelan arepas are made from scratch daily, we love the atmosphere and vibe, we love the service, we love the central East Village location, and we love their brunch. Simply put, this is our kind of place. If we lived in the East Village, we’d be at Caracas Arepa Bar all the time. On this trip we didn’t have time to enjoy their brunch again, but it was nice to go on a mellow afternoon for a few snacks of affordable arepas and strong coffee with almost no one else in the place.
Caracas also has a carry out space two doors down, but why would you want to go there when you can eat your arepas slowly in this cozy, fun space?
Perfect arepas with plantains and cheese.
